Eight days for $1,199 gives travelers the experience of Istanbul, Kusadasi, Ephesus, and Canakkale
(TRAVPR.COM)PENNSYLVANIA - September 28th, 2011 - From Istanbul to Ephesus, Turkey offers something for everyone, from ancient wonders like the theater at Ephesus to the modern complexity of Istanbul. So it’s no wonder that Turkey has become a popular destination for savvy travelers and that Friendly Planet Travel has launched its second tour series to Turkey. The new tour, A Taste of Turkey, offers a shorter, eight-day trip for travelers whose vacation time and travel budget are limited. Prices start at $1,199 from New York, if booked by Oct. 12, representing a savings of $300 per person off of regular prices. Departures are also available from Washington, D.C. for an additional $100 per person, and from Chicago for an additional $300 per person.
The tour includes round-trip, non-stop flights from JFK, IAD, or ORD to Istanbul via Turkish Airlines. Travelers will receive assistance with arrival and departures transfers; all intra-Turkey transportation; accommodations in first-class hotels; six buffet breakfasts and three dinners; a comprehensive touring program, including entrance fees; and a professional, English-speaking tour guide.
Travelers arrive in Izmir and from there visit Kusadasi, a port town on the Mediterranean Sea; and Ephesus, the second most well-preserved ancient site in the world after Pompeii. At Ephesus, travelers will walk through the ancient streets to view the Library of Celsus, Temple of Hadrian, the Great Theater, and more. The tour continues to Pergamon with visits to the Temple of Trajan, the Sanctuary of Athena, and the Alter of Zeus. In Troy, travelers visit the historic site of the Trojan War, a huge archaeological site and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tour also includes the Gallipoli Peninsula.
The tour continues to Istanbul, with visits to the Sultanahmet Mosque, also known as the Blue Mosque for its blue tiles lining the interior walls; and Hagia Sophia, a former basilica, later a mosque, and now a museum. Several available optional tours include a cruise through the straits on the Bosphorus, where quaint fishing villages and magnificent villas dot the shoreline, and a visit to the Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar, one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world.
For travelers with more time, Friendly Planet Travel also offers The Best of Turkey, a 14-day fully escorted tour starting at just $1,699 and including Istanbul, Ankara, Cappadocia, Antalya, Pamukkal, Ephesus, and Canakkale. The tour includes a savings of up to $600 per couple if reserved by Nov. 9.
