(TRAVPR.COM)SPAIN - July 2nd, 2012 - The continuing crisis in Europe has failed to dampen the enthusiasm tourists have for watching FC Barcelona play at the Nou Camp, as the club takes a step into a new era. And after losing out on both the Spanish League and Champions League title in the 2011-2012, Spain's recent form in Euro 2012 shows that Futbol Club Barcelona may be well placed for success in the forthcoming season.
FC Barcelona was once again well represented in the record-breaking Spanish selection that beat Italy 4-0 in the Euro 2012 final on Sunday night. Although Barcelona's captain, Carles Puyol, and David Villa had to sit the competition out due to injury, a whole host of familiar faces made the starting line-up.
David Leigh of Simply Barcelona Tickets says, "Barcelona has a really solid squad, which is demonstrated by the number of players who made it into the Spanish selection. FC Barcelona continues to provide a tremendous draw due to its success in recent years and, despite the economic crisis that is affecting so many countries in Europe at the moment, demand for tickets remains solid."
The forthcoming season also sees the dawn of a new era at the club, after the departure of manager Pep Guardiola, and his former assistant, Tito Vilanova, stepping into the role. Although some changes are inevitable, Vilanova has worked alongside Guardiola since he coached Barcelona B in 2007 and Guardiola relied upon Vilanova heavily during his four seasons in charge.
Although the Spanish League fixtures have not yet been drawn, two matches are already confirmed at the Nou Camp for August. The first is the Gamper Trophy, which this year will be played against Italian club Sampdoria on August 20. And just a few days later Barcelona will take on the might of Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercup.
