The beautiful courtyard of Somerset House offers a great line-up of outdoor concerts, reports LondonTown.com

(TRAVPR.COM) UK - July 2nd, 2013 - Hidden within one of eighteenth century London's most spectacular buildings, the Somerset House Summer Series is the perfect location for an intimate and calming concert on a summer's evening. The escapism of the venue enables guests to forget the bustle of central London and be fully engaged with the music. This year's eleven-night festival, which runs from the 11th to 21st July, welcomes an impressive line-up of acts. Visitors who are travelling from outside of London can find a great selection of central London hotels on LondonTown.com.

South Londoner Alex Clare kicks the Summer Series off for 2013. Former chef turned singer/songwriter, Clare was working as an estate agent when his music career officially took off – he was showing some buyers around a house when he discovered that Microsoft wanted to use his song 'Too Close' as the soundtrack for an advert for its latest version of Internet Explorer. The song went on to be the biggest hit from his album, peaking at number four on the UK Singles Chart and number 7 on the US Billboard Hot 100, as well as being nominated for the 2013 Brit Award for Best British Single. His star now continues to rise and his vocals are sure to soar out across the central London neo-classical courtyard.

The following night, Friday 12th July, will see Band of Horses take to the stage. Since their 2010 Grammy-nominated album Infinite Arms, the band have given their sweeping style of Southern rock a grittier, more rock 'n' roll feel. Now, prior to performing at a number of festivals across Europe, the South Carolina-based five-piece will treat the London audience to their country-tinged rock and tracks from their latest album, Mirage Rock.

Saturday 13th July invites rising star Lianne La Havas to perform. Having been invited to "hang out and play guitar" with Prince at his Paisley Park home in Minneapolis, flown to Milan by Tom Ford to perform at the launch party for his Noir fragrance and graced by a surprise appearance from Stevie Wonder at one of her gigs, the London-born singer has attracted some serious attention. Now, the Mercury Prize-nominated artist comes to Somerset House to perform tracks from her debut album, Is Your Love Big Enough?

Further highlights of the festival include Of Monsters and Men, an Icelandic six-piece who offer alluring whimsical folk from; Tom Odell, the first male winner of the Brit Awards Critics' Choice Award; Goldfrapp, who return for 2013 with their long-awaited sixth studio album; and London-based singer/songwriter Jessie Ware, playing electro pop, soul and R&B.

The festival will be brought to a rousing finish on Sunday 21st July by Brixton-based dance music duo Basement Jaxx. Devotees to the dance music scene, Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe have been bringing house tunes with signature guest vocals to dance floors of house and garage clubs in London and Ibiza for nearly twenty years. Dominators of the late 90s and early noughties dance scene, their magical and mad music is the perfect way to conclude this enchanting festival.
