(TRAVPR.COM) VIETNAM - May 9th, 2014 - Son Doong Cave and En Cave (Swallow Cave or Hang En) are the most spectacular sights and near each others in Quang Binh province (Central of Vietnam). Fortunately, when trekking tour to Son Doong is only for testing and currently limited by government, we can have a great two-day trek to En Cave – the same way to Son Doong cave.
The En cave is 1.645 m long and has three mouths. One is halfway up a mountain and two others are located on another mountain which has its foot on the south-east and north-west alongside Rao Thuong Stream. Its beauty takes by surprise. The mouth is almost 100m wide and 120m height. Three huge water caves inside are separated by sloping hills which are filled with smooth sand and large rocks overlapping one another. All of these make the cave different from other well-known caves in the country.
Active Travel has 2 days trekking tour to discover and camping in En cave. In the first day, tour guide meets travelers at the Railway Station or hotel in Dong Hoi and take travelers to our local office. Travelers can enjoy the breakfast at the restaurant there (optional). Get the brief tour plan before we leave for Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park’s core zone to discover En Cave. It takes around 2 hours to arrive at Phong Nha village where we can meet the porters who will assist travelers. Mr. Ho Khanh is the guide who discovered Son Doong cave - the biggest cave will be the guide for travelers on trip. He is a good man and the porters are brilliant people and very friendly and honest.
Travelers reach Doong Village around 11.30 am, a secluded village in jungle and have picnic lunch in the village. After lunch travelers begin a trek through jungle toward En Cave (Swallow Cave).
Travelers reach En Cave around 14.00, a beautiful cave with over 2km in length and more than 100m in height. Travelers will explore the cave, taking photo then set our camp near a stream. The support team will catch fish in the stream to cook our dinner. Travelers have dinner at around 18.00 pm and sleep in tent.
The second day, travelers have breakfast at the campsite around 08.30 am before trekking toward Doong Village where travelers have lunch break before driving back to Dong Hoi Town. Return back to Dong Hoi which will take around 4 hours walking and 2 hours driving. Trip ends.
