YUCATáN MAINTAINS PUSH TOWARD TOURISM REACTIVATION INCREASING AIR CONNECTIVITY
Industry: Destinations

Yucatán's tourism reactivation plan comprises three phases: health care, preservation of tourism industry and market reactivation.

(TRAVPR.COM) UNITED STATES - July 27th, 2020 - The relaunch of air routes in and out of the State of Yucatán by Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris and the opening of Mérida hotel the Wayam Mundo Imperial are two of the latest developments in the state tourism board's activation of its three-phase Tourism Recovery Plan. The plan encompasses health care, preservation of the tourist offers – with more than 29 million Mexican pesos ($1.3 million U.S.) in loans granted to sector workers – and market reactivation.

"In Yucatán, we are a benchmark in terms of security, biosecurity and sanitary certitude", said Michelle Fridman Hirsch, Secretary of Tourism of Yucatán. "We have prepared ourselves with the best protocols to receive visitors when the time to travel is right, giving our visitors a safe and extraordinary experience so that they can enjoy this destination full of natural, cultural and gastronomic attractions, where thousands of years of history comes together with modernity."

The state has a wide variety of attractions and scenarios that make it ideal for all tastes. Its picturesque cities, exquisite gastronomy, white-sand beaches and calm emerald green waters, tropical climate, imposing archaeological legacy and warmth of its people make Yucatán a renowned place of enjoyment, rest or adventure.

Among the most important recognitions that Yucatán has received for its good sanitary practices in the tourism industry, the following stand out: Certification of Good Sanitary Practices, approved in joint venture with the state of Quintana Roo; Safe Travels stamp from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) and, recently, the Punto Limpio designation announced by the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico. It should be noted that Yucatán has been recognized recently, with Mérida named one of the "Best Cities in Mexico" by Travel + Leisure magazine and Travel Lemming pronouncing Valladolid one of the nine top emerging travel destinations in North America, among many more. All this is coupled with Yucatán being home to one of the new Seven Wonders of the Modern World: the Temple of Kukulkán in Chichén Itzá.
