COOK ISLANDS ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT CHANGES IN THE AMERICAS
Industry: Appointments

John Petersen will complete his term as General Manager Americas for Cook Islands Tourism effective January 1st 2020, as he moves on to a new exciting chapter in his life.

(TRAVPR.COM) USA - December 18th, 2019 - John Petersen will complete his term as General Manager Americas for Cook Islands Tourism effective January 1st 2020, as he moves on to a new exciting chapter in his life. Christian Mani has been appointed as the new General Manager – the Americas, and Bethany Dawson as the new Marketing Manager - The Americas, commencing January 1st, 2020.

Christian, who is from the Cook Islands, moved to the USA three years ago as Marketing Manager for Cook Islands Tourism in the Los Angeles-based office. Bethany joined Cook Islands Tourism in the Los Angeles office almost two years ago after a successful career in travel marketing.

In announcing the changes, John Petersen said, “Both Christian and Bethany are more than ready for their new challenges. The destination has so much to offer to Americans and Canadians with all of the natural beauty and none of the excess—no brand-name hotels, no fast-food chains, no traffic lights, no high-rises.”

In reflecting on his time as General Manager John Petersen recounted, “It has been such a privilege for me to have represented such a unique destination. Five years ago, I introduced a new type of business model for tourism destination marketing. It has been so motivating to see a 63% growth in visitor arrivals to the Cook Islands from the USA and Canada since then.”

The Cook Islands comprise of 15 islands occupying a massive marine preserve encompassing nearly 700,000 square miles of Pacific Ocean. Though they are remote, they are very accessible by a direct flight from Los Angeles to Rarotonga flying Air New Zealand, and are both modern and traditional. Situated in the center of the Polynesian triangle, they are on the same time zone as Hawaii and just south west of Tahiti and the islands of French Polynesia.
