Industry: Hotels

A grand opening event for a new luxury resort Kairaba Mythos Palace hotel took place on September 22, 2019 on Corfu Greece hosting special guests.

(TRAVPR.COM) GREECE - October 7th, 2019 - On September 22, 2019, In Cooperation with MP Hotels Greece, the Rizos Group were thrilled to inaugurate their most recent luxury hotel development on the island of Corfu, Greece. To be branded as Kairaba Mythos Palace Hotel and located in Southeast coastline of Corfu.

Corfu, also known as Kerkyra, has a unique position in the Mediterranean and a very long history of continuous occupation since well before 600BC. Throughout the ages many have tried to conquer this island and make it their own. Ottomans, French, Modern Italians, British, Austrians, Serbians, Venetians, Romans, Greeks, Ancient Corinthians and more all sought occupation, possession, or refuge in this green Mediterranean paradise.

Of special note here, the Rizos Group chose to honor a very important former resident who sought refuge on the island after the fall of Constantinople. The new hotel has been dedicated to Empress Sophia Zoe Palaiologina. She was heir to the Byzantine Empire, and many hoped she would be a pawn of a Roman Catholic Pope. Instead she forged her own path and became the wife of Czar Ivan III. From her seat in Moscow she help to establish the 3rd Holy Roman Empire aligned to the Christian Orthodox church. The rich history of her powerful ascension to the thrown has been honored here and is depicted in a series of specially curated mosaic works of art throughout this hotel. Indeed the island has many historically important ruins, monasteries, and churches from the important Byzantine era.

The resort, in addition to the wonderful dedication to this rich Byzantine history, is also fitted to cater to the demanding tastes of modern sun seekers in a luxury setting. Located at its coastal location in Southeast Corfu, this resort enjoys stunning views of the peaceful waters of Corfu’s inland sea. It is set in a lush green zone of olive trees and local flora. The coast dotted with occasional fish tavernas and not too far north is a larger tourist enclave, but far enough away so as to enjoy a peace and tranquility on the resort beach and gardens.

In attendance at the opening event where esteemed guests from many corners of the world. Most appropriately, Grand Prince Pr. Dr. Valeriy Viktorovich Kubarev descendent of the Rurik dynasty and so  a direct descendent of the Palaiologan line was present to help officiate this opening for select guests and media.  Also in attendance was Prince Francis Alexander of the Romonov lineage. In addition, the Governorness of Corfu, local Mayors, and a member of the Tourism Ministry of Greece also attended in order to help with the presentation of the new hotel and dedication to this powerful Empress that reshaped and forged history.

There was live orchestra, local folk dancer exhibition, special Greek Orthodox religious dedication. There was also a specially planned multi-course gourmet meal and cocktails after.  Music curated included special themes of Corfiot classical pieces, as well as Russian anthems to honor guests.

The Resort is operational, and a core of staff will fine tune its needs until its ultimate opening with the next season where MP Hotels Greece will take over the management and operations contract as of April 2020.
