TRAVEL WEBSITE AIMS TO BE CHILDREN'S SUMMER 'LEARNING LOSS'
Industry: Technology

Initiative to publish writing by children and young people on national platform aims to help beat post-summer ‘learning loss’

(TRAVPR.COM) UNITED KINGDOM - July 1st, 2019 - Studies conducted both within the UK* and abroad** have shown that pupils demonstrate a clear deterioration in key skills such as Reading, Writing, and Maths upon returning to school after the summer holidays- often referred to as ‘learning loss’, or the ‘summer slide’.

This summer, The Tourist Trail will be helping parents and teachers in the UK to tackle back-to-school learning loss by offering a unique opportunity to pupils.

From 5th July until 5th September 2019, children and young people between the ages of 10-16 will be given the chance to have their writing published on The Tourist Trail website, with the aim of building confidence and improving writing skills in young people during the summer holidays.

The idea has been welcomed by parents for the added benefits of reducing boredom and keeping children entertained as they work on the project at their leisure during the long summer break.

In addition to the chance to have their work published on a national platform, The Tourist Trail will also be offering prizes for the top three submissions.

The Tourist Trail, a UK travel and tourism website, aims to publish as many pieces as possible, meaning that a larger number of children will benefit from the encouragement and confidence that comes with having their work published, regardless of whether they win one of the prizes.
