2017 World Travel Championship Sets Dates
(TRAVPR.COM) US - October 20th, 2016 - SAN FRANCISCO, USA – 20 October 2016 - Good news for a change: Forget the false narrative that the world is going to hell in a handbasket, the facts are quite different. Despite a few violent pockets, the world remains a great place to explore with Cuba, Colombia and Iran now part of the 97% conflict free zone. That means the 2017 edition of the world travel championship will have no problem adding to the 70 countries the event has already visited, allowing participants to trust strangers in strange lands.
The dates of April 14 thru May 6 are set for the 2017 edition The Global Scavenger Hunt, the world’s only real-life international travel adventure competition and would-be Indiana Jones-types, adventurous Nellie Bly hopefuls and Amazing Race wannabe’s can apply online for the thrilling around the world adventure event limited to an exclusive group of just 15 teams of two travelers.
Traveling in the Golden Age of Travel, the world travel championship event will once again pit talented international travelers in a challenging circumnavigation of the globe over 23-days visiting ten secret countries—it is A Blind Date with the World after all—while completing a series of culturally-oriented site-doing scavenges. Teams will use their acquired travel IQ while trying to earn the rights to the crystal trophy and the 2017 World's Greatest Travelers™ crown.
“We live in the Golden Age of Travel, no doubt about it,” says author and event director, William D. Chalmers, “Indeed, contrary to the nightly news, we are living in the most peaceful and safest time in human history—a 97% conflict-free world. And last year was the safest ever in aviation history—travel has never been safer. We also live in a period of unparalleled connectivity with no generation of travelers ever being better informed about their destinations and airlines keep adding new routes. You can go anywhere within 24 hours. And our event will test those limits by visiting 10 secret destinations!”
The 2017 theme of the event is to have participants answer the question: When was the last time you did something for the first time? With the 2016 champions, Lawyers without Borders, who hail from Houston, Texas, will defend their “World’s Greatest Travelers” titles in this event that is all about authentic, challenging and participatory travel. It is also about life-changing travel.
Life-changing because not only are participants given numerous volunteering opportunities along the way, but the event also serves as a platform to raise funds for interest-free micro loans, the building of remote medical clinics and co-ed elementary schools in places of need with ten schools and a medical clinic having already been built in places like: Kenya, Sierra Leone, Ecuador, Niger and Sri Lanka.
The 23-day around the world event is limited to 15 teams of two, and the $25,000 per team entry fee includes: all international airfare, first class hotels, 40% of meals and event-sponsored travel gear.
