WATERVILLE VALLEY WELCOMES SUMMER THIS MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND WITH CHOWDER, BREWS, FISHING AND FUN

Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend and welcome the summer season at Waterville Valley Resort with delicious chowder, brews and fishing for the kids.

(TRAVPR.COM) USA - April 18th, 2016 - Waterville Valley, NH – Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend and welcome the summer season at Waterville Valley Resort with delicious chowder, brews and fishing for the kids.

On Saturday, May 28, kids can try to catch Corcoran Pond’s elusive Kirby during the annual Casting for Kirby Youth Fishing Derby and win a prize. Registration starts at 8 a.m., with fishing starting at 8:30 a.m. for ages 7 and under, and 8:45 a.m. for children ages 8 to 15. The first 100 Derby entrants get a t-shirt and starter bait. Prizes will be awarded across all age groups beginning at 11 a.m. 

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., family friendly entertainment will be provided, including a presentation by Wildlife Encounters, face painting, boat rentals, a bounce house and a visit with Bruce the Moose. Pre-registration is $6 a participant if completed by May 15. After May 15 registration is $10. On Sunday, May 29, sample a variety of chowders from local restaurants at the 27th Annual Chowderfest & Brews. Sampling runs from 12 noon to 2 p.m. with guests submitting ballots for their favorites for the “Golden Clam Award” for the best chowder. Admission is $7.50 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

From noon to 4 p.m. seasonal ales from New Hampshire will be available in the brew tent for guests 21 and older. While enjoying the chowder and brews, guests will also be treated to live music on the Gazebo Stage from 12 noon to 3 p.m. by Do’s Monkey’s and additional live entertainment from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. by The Boneshakers.

Additionally, on May 30, Squam Lakes Natural Science Center Show presents a free one-hour live animal program about Owls of New Hampshire. The program starts at 10 a.m. in Waterville Valley Town Square and will be taught by an expert Naturalist.
