Speaking at the Caribbean Travel Marketplace on Paradise Island in January, Mr. Naughton described last year as "spectacular".
"In fact, 2015 was the best year since I built this Comfort Suites property 24 years ago. For the first time ever, we had eight consecutive months of 90 percent-plus occupancy. We had the best September and October, which are usually the two softest months of the year, since I built the hotel."
The Bahamas hotelier attributes the success to the US $8 million spent on refurbishment, the expansion of its product and, specifically, its food and beverage experience which includes the Comfort brand's signature full complimentary hot and hearty breakfast.
"The Comfort Suites Paradise Island is going above and beyond the basic Comfort brand standard of a free breakfast offering. Guests can also purchase lunch in our restaurant where we have expanded the lunch menu and, for the first time ever, we're serving dinner - the results have surpassed all of our expectations," he said.
At Comfort Suites Paradise Island, children eat lunch and dinner free when dining with a paying adult.
The hotel property also prides itself on its high level of diligence when maintenance issues arise. Staffers conscientiously make reports to the quality assurance teams who address them expediently, added Mr. Naughton. "We do not let anything sit or sleep - the hotel is still fresh and each room looks like it was refurbished yesterday."
The hotel received the Best New Partner of the Year Caribbean designation from Expedia +VIP Access™ during a presentation on Paradise Island in January 2016. The Expedia +VIP Access™ designation recognizes hotels that score highest on member satisfaction scores.
