ADVENTURE OPERATORS GO MAD FOR SWAZILAND
Industry: Tour Ops

Swaziland tops Africa’s adventure travel hotlist for 2016 with newly launched tours selling out fast!

(TRAVPR.COM) UK - March 2nd, 2016 - Swaziland tops Africa’s adventure travel hotlist for 2016 with newly launched tours selling out fast!

It may be southern Africa’s smallest country but the tiny Kingdom of Swaziland is set to become African’s adventure capital in 2016. A burst of tour operators have introduced new Swaziland itineraries - many focussed exclusively on the country for the first time. There is a huge range of high quality adventure activities on offer in this charming, beautiful and welcoming country. The possibility to explore the stunning and varied scenery of Swaziland, whilst experiencing its unique African culture is what made UK tour operators get behind Swaziland.

Explore, an adventure travel expert tour operator recently launched its first dedicated Swaziland trip, and sales so far have vastly exceeded initial expectations. Out of 81 new trips that Explore have launched for 2016, the Kingdom of Swaziland is their best-selling long haul trip. This tour is 10 day journey through the last true monarchy of Africa and extra departure dates have been added to meet demand. Explore’s Africa Product Manager Jonathan May says  “We wanted to explore the last monarchy in Africa and really get under the skin of the country and felt the best way to do this was to run a dedicated Swaziland trip. Even though Swaziland is a small country, it has a complex and fascinating culture and incredible scenery that deserves more attention than the 2 night stop found on most itineraries.”

Explore is not the only one that has fallen in love with Swaziland; Tucan Travel has launched no less than 27 fantastic new tour combinations that visit Swaziland, ranging from 12 to 76 days in length and which are part of either their Overland Tours or Budget Expeditions range. Mountain House Hoildays are also excited to launch their new Swaziland Adventure walking holiday, Jane Livingstone the Director of Mountain House holidays said: “Swaziland offers an ideal opportunity to have a taste of Africa, with a little of everything in a relatively safe environment’.

In addition to the adventures already on offer, Swaziland specialist Sense Africa has started a brand new activity for the country, and one not normally associated with Africa – Nordic Walking! Working in partnership with Nordic Walking UK they have created an itinerary for beginner and intermediate walkers. Not only is the terrain ideal for Nordic Walkers but Swaziland offers them the unique chance to walk safely amongst big game! This Africa at its best.

As well as the adventure specialists, the world’s oldest Tour Operator, Cox and Kings has also taken to Swaziland with a new holiday focussed on a week in the Kingdom launched in 2015 and already selling well. With walking specialist Ramblers looking seriously at Swaziland for 2016/17 there seems to be no let up in this surge for Swaziland.

Kelly White from Swaziland Tourism said “Swaziland has so much to excite all travellers. Its compact size ensure visitors get to experience all of to best the country has to offer. Big 5 wildlife, mountains and waterfalls, thrilling adventure activities and genuine African culture. We are delighted to see such a huge increase in tours offered to this fascinating country.”

Highlights of a Swaziland Trip include coming face to face with Rhino on walking safaris; hiking to Malolotja Falls, the highest waterfall in Swaziland and enjoying the warm hospitality from the traditional mountain community of Shewula. Crocodiles, elephant and giraffe in Mkhaya Game Reserve are a spectacular sight and learning about the unique beliefs of local African doctors is always fascinating. There is also the chance to visit local craft markets and Ngwenya glass blowing factory and to spend a night in a traditional Swazi beehive hut in Mlilwane.
