UPCOMING VIETNAM LUNAR TET HOLIDAY WITH MAIN CULTURAL FESTIVALS KICKING OFF

A number of cultural and flower festivals take place during Tet holidays and attract thousands of visitors every year. A wide variety of Culture Tours and Festive Offers has been introduced by Insight Asia Travel.

(TRAVPR.COM) VIETNAM - January 29th, 2016 - Tet Holiday is one of the most important festivals in the Vietnamese Lunar Calendar. Tet holiday heralds the arrival of spring in January or February and is great time that Vietnamese families gather with their relatives for feasting. Besides, a number of cultural and flower festivals take place and attract thousands of visitors every year.

In Ho Chi Minh City, 2016 Flower Street festival will officially kick off at 7:00 pm on February 5 and will last eight days until 10:00 pm on February 12. The Nguyen Hue Street will be embellished with flowers and ornaments from several places across the country including Da Lat City, Tien Giang Province in Mekong Delta, etc. The Flower Street will display 15 large sculptures in different materials awarded at Ho Chi Minh City International Sculpture Camp 2015. In 2016, the 12th anniversary of Nguyen Hue Flower Street will also feature many interesting art activities such as light-art performance, street festival, etc. Since 2004, the Nguyen Hue Flower Street has become one of the “Sai Gon’s Tet” fixtures.

In Hanoi, the Spring Festival of the Year of the Monkey opened on January 20 and last through February 5 with a myriad of cultural and artistic activities. The highlights of the Spring Festival included 2016 Fine Arts Exhibition which introduces works of 19 outstanding painters and sculptor. Furthermore, a Lao Cai traditional market has been hold to sell local farm and forestry products together with ethnic games and dances. Visitors will experience the demonstrations of ethnic weaving and cooking.

In Halong bay, Ha Long Spring Flower Festival 2016 will take place from January 29th to February 7th at Ha Long Park. Around 240 kiosks with various flowers, specific ornamental plants from regions all over Viet Nam will make a colorful space.

During Tet Holiday, there is an air of festivity throughout Vietnam. Among the greatest Buddhist festival in Northern Vietnam, Huong Pagoda Festival opens officially on the 6th day of the first Lunar month. Ceremonial rituals consist of incense offering procession and Zen ceremony. Visitors can enjoy boat cruise along Yen Stream for watching picturesque scenery, climbing mountain and exploring holy caves. In Sapa, on the first Dragon Day after the first full moon every year, Giay ethnic people hold Roong Pooc festival to show people's gratitude towards their guardians. It has become a common festival of the region with the participation of Mong and Dao people from nearby villages. The sacred ceremony begins with incense offerings and ends among the harmony of drums, gongs and Pi Le clarinets, followed by traditional games such as con throwing, tug of war game, etc.
