Great Places to View Foliage This Fall

1.     Acadia National Park in Maine – Exploding with color from early to mid-October, enjoy red sugar maples and yellow mountain ash leaves.

2.     Underhill State Park in Vermont– For the quintessential New England experience, the first two weeks of October offer rugged mountains and quaint villages with lemon-yellow, orange, purple and blazing reds from impressive maples, ash, and birch trees.

3.     White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire – Visit during the beginning of October to see rushing rivers, covered bridges and widespread brilliant yellow and red leaves.

4.     The Adirondack Park in New York – From late September to mid-October, enjoy scenic drives, flat water recreation and glamping back-dropped by purple dogwoods, bronze beech, russet-red oak, and yellow birch.

5.     Shenandoah National Park in Virginia – Oozing with color from mid-October to early-November, enjoy the Skyline Drive with regal purple and gold, pumpkin orange, and burning red leaves.

6.     Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina – During late October, stunning orange and crimson red maples and yellow birch cascade over hills and valleys perfect for picnicking, climbing, and horseback riding.

7.     Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee– The most visited National Park offers ranger-led hayrides, gorgeous campgrounds, and endless red and yellow leaf-peeping opportunities from mid-late October.

8.     Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado– From mid-September to early-October, expect dramatic peaks, wildlife watching and hiking trails with glorious, golden yellow aspens.

9.     Hope Valley Resort in California – Visit early to mid-October to see the deep reds of dogwoods, sugar maples and spectacular yellow aspens.  

10.  Olympic National Forest in Washington – Go early to mid-October for striking peaks, rain-forested river valleys, and miles of coastal wilderness with towering trees of yellow and red.
