Extra departures of Grasshopper Adventures' popular 'Kingdoms of the North' Thailand tour have been added to coincide with the Loy Kratong Festival in Chiang Mai.
(TRAVPR.COM) CAMBODIA - June 5th, 2015 - Grasshopper Adventures ‘Kingdoms of the North’ cycle tour is a great way to discover Thailand’s popular lower north.
Starting with an overnight train ride from Bangkok to Uttaradit, the tour takes riders through the ancient cities of Si Satchanalai and Sukhothai , with their ruined palaces, temples and Buddhas, under the shadow of Thailand’s highest mountains, past the walled city of Lamphun to the journey’s conclusion in wonderful and vibrant Chiang Mai.
Through villages and valleys, where friendly locals cheer riders on as they cruise past on their well maintained Grasshopper mountain bikes, the 11-day tour includes 9 days of riding, with a total of 616km covered on two wheels. A very achievable ride for those with some cycling experience the route is on rural back roads, with an occasional short stretch on dirt tracks and highways. The pace is slow and relaxed and a support vehicle is always on hand for those with tired legs.
Two special departures have been added to the tour’s schedule to coincide with the magical Loy Kratong Festival in Chiang Mai, a beautiful spectacle of lanterns floating both in the sky and on the river.
