SERENGETI TO THE SEA - CYCLING ACROSS TANZANIA
Industry: Tour Ops

An exclusive new bicycle tour through the undiscovered lands and historical seaports of Tanzania

(TRAVPR.COM) USA - May 16th, 2015 - The whimsically named, Pedalers Pub & Grille recently announced its new, Serengeti to the Sea bike tour, opening doors to Tanzania's wonders, its people, landscapes, culture and way of life.  Tanzania has long been known as a must do safari destination thanks to its famous game parks, such as the Serengeti national Park and also for Mt Kilamanjaro, the tallest peak on the African continent.  But there is much more to Tanzania than going on safari and Pedalers wants our travelers to discover what many before them missed.

The 10 day adventure begins in the traditional manner, with a welcoming night at a traditional tented safari camp, where guests unwind from the flights under canvas the the open Tanzanian skies.  The first couple of days are without bikes, as safety prohibits cycling inside most wildlife parks, so cyclists embark on two days of game drives, first in Serengeti National Park, then in Ngorongoro Crater Conservation area.  According to company founder, Tom Sheehan, "While our tour focus is discovering Tanzania's culture, food and history, one can't go to the Africa and not spend a bit of time enjoying its vast herds of wildlife streaming across the high grasslands."

The cycling leg starts in the land of the Maasai, nomadic cattle herders. Here cyclists will not only see their villages along the route, but also bed down in a village one evening enjoying native dance and a BBQ.  Continuing through the high savanna with Mt Meru and Mt Kilamanjaro looming above the route, riders start working their way east towards the coast, enjoying several days wending through the mountains of Tanzania.  At the coast, tiny dirt roads lead the way through the parks and historic seaport trading towns, some of which date back to 600 BC. The journey winds down in historic Bagamoyo, the launching point for many early European expeditions to explore the mysterious dark continent, including the fabled journeys of Livingstone and Stanley.

Serengeti to the Sea is a 10 day fully supported inn to inn bicycle tour.  The inaugural departure is set for 12 October 2015, with additional departures in January, July and October 2016.  The tour is priced at US$2475, which includes hotel accommodation (double occupancy) in small resorts and lodges, all meals, support vehicles, local English speaking guides and drivers and park admissions.  Single rooms for solo travelers incur a $695 Single Supplement and bike rentals are available for $175.  Pedalers also offers private trip date options for couples, families and small groups wanting to experience the tour with just their friends.
