DOMINICAN REPUBLIC WILL HOST THE LATIN AMERICAN AMATEUR GOLF TOURNAMENT AT CASA DE CAMPO

The world-famous Teeth of the Dog golf course in Casa de Campo, on the eastern region of the Dominican Republic and considered the Caribbean’s number one course, will host the 2016 Latin America Amateur Championship (LAAC).

(TRAVPR.COM) UK - February 12th, 2015 - The world-famous Teeth of the Dog golf course in Casa de Campo, on the eastern region of the Dominican Republic and considered the Caribbean’s number one course, will host the 2016 Latin America Amateur Championship (LAAC). The tournament is organized by the Masters Tournament, The R & A and the United States Golf Association.

Casa de Campo has been named as the number one golf resort in the world by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators. The annual winner of the LAAC champion is invited to compete in the Masters Tournament. In addition, the winner and those that come in second will participate in the qualifying stages of The British Open and the US Open Championship.

Teeth of the Dog Golf Course

The 2016 LAAC will take the best players from the region to the Teeth of the Dog Golf Course, one of the most prestigious courses in the Caribbean and the world. 

Designed by Pete Dye and built in the early seventies Teeth of the Dog, in Casa de Campo, features seven seaside holes, making it one of the most impressive courses in all of Latin America. “It is a great honour for us to have been selected to host this prestigious championship,” said Rafael Torres, President of Casa de Campo. 

“We are fortunate that the selection committee has seen fit to bring the LAAC to us, since we believe it is the best field in this region.”  “The tournament will be played at the legendary Teeth of the Dog, the golf masterpiece of architect Pete Dye.
