LETSGO2 TOUR OPERATOR REVEALS THE TRUTH BEHIND TERM-TIME SCHOOL HOLIDAY FINES
In recent news, a couple who took their family on a week long holiday have been fined £1,000 by a magistrate for taking their children out of school during term-time.
Telford and Wrekin council fined the Sutherland family £360 for knowingly removing their children from school, which were increased to £1000 when the Sutherlands refused to pay.
“A major reason for taking holidays during term-time is that costs of holiday’s are significantly lower. This is due to the costs imposed by airlines which directly reflect high cost at peak seasons i.e. school holidays. It is at the discretion of the school to enforce these fines, but seeing as the cost of the fines will be approx £360, “this explains why we at Letgso2 have seen a 500% increase in family holidays during term-times” remarks Simon Norton. In recent years “Letsgo2 have seen costs of holidays during school holidays increase along with demand for family holidays during term-time”.
On average, holidays are 25% cheaper during term-time than those holidays taken within standard school holidays.
