MAYOR BLOOMBERG PROCLAIMS NOVEMBER
Industry: Events

Celebrate Umbria Month with Villa Torre Palombara

(TRAVPR.COM) USA - November 12th, 2013 - (New York, New York, November 12, 2013)  Until December 8, the luxurious Villa Palombara  and several other resorts, villas, artisans and vintners  are visiting New York City to celebrate the Italian region of Umbria.  The city will be hosting cultural and culinary events in celebration of the best that Umbria has to offer in its wine, ceramics, olive oil, cuisine, jewelry, and historic towns like Assisi, Perugia and Spoleto..

Manhattan’s acclaimed Eataly’s restaurants are currently serving traditional Umbrian fare paired with Umbrian wines. Eataly chefs are hosting cooking classes that focus on typical Umbrian recipes and their wine store is holding wine tastings.

Additional tasting events, for both consumers and travel trade, have been featured at Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria in the heart of NoHo.  In Little Italy, Di Palo’s Fine Foods has hosted olive oil tastings and wine tastings, some of the finest from the region.  Around the city, participating jewelers are  offering exquisite Umbrian jewelry.

Besides the presentation of its unique cuisine and crafts, the Umbrian Region has commissioned the famous photographer, Steve McCurry to take 100 photos highlighting this beautiful and unspoiled region. Steve McCurry has personally selected fifteen of these images and they will be shown during the month of November (for the very first time in New York) in a gallery exhibit at the Italian Trade Commission (33 E 67th Street), as well as at Eataly (200 5th Avenue).  Seven of the images have never been seen before.

The owners of Villa Hotel Torre Palombara have lived in Umbria for generations and are thrilled to share their natural riches and long history.  Their villa is located near one of those magical, medieval hilltop towns, Narni, just one hour north of Rome.  The 15th-century stone “Dove Tower” (the eponymous Torre Palombara) has been lovingly and impeccably restored and transformed into one of the most exclusive villa hotels in Italy, with seven guest rooms and suites where exquisite family antiques co-exist with air-conditioning, wi-fi and flat-screen televisions.  The breakfast room and swimming pool look out on classic Umbrian landscapes and the owners, with a deeply-ingrained passion and enthusiasm for their Umbrian heritage, are always eager to outline “insider” excursions from Torre Palombara.
