Slovenia hosts WTM celebration brunch for journalists.

Hidden away at the very heart of Europe, Slovenia is where the mighty Alps meet the Mediterranean, where verdant forests and snow-capped peaks meet the Adriatic coast. This is a country that offers the opportunity to experience Europe at a slower pace...

The SLOVENIAN TOURIST BOARD hosted a ‘St Martin’s Day celebration brunch’ for journalists at the World Travel Market 2013, in London’s ExCel centre on Monday, November 4th.

Karmen Novarlič, MSc; Director of Slovenian Tourist Board said:

“2014 is a big year for Slovenia. The recent dramatic year on year growth in visitors from the UK has had a very positive impact on the future for Slovenian tourism. Expected demand has seen new additional flights scheduled from the British Isles to Slovenia starting next year. The annual ABTA convention in September 2014 will be an excellent tool to drive more tourists from UK market to Slovenia. The World Travel Market is a good opportunity to tell the world's travel trade professionals and media about all the events and activities happening in Slovenia in 2014, not least the 2,000th anniversary of the city of Emona.”

Slovenia.  Green. Active. Healthy.

Why you need to visit Slovenia in 2014...

•  Ljubljana, a leading city-break destination. Ljubljana, the Slovene capital city, is becoming one of the top European city-break destinations with overseas travelers. www.visitljubljana.com

•  A city that never sleeps. The capital will host over 10,000 events in the coming year, including the International Biennial of Graphic Arts, Advent Christmas festivals, Ljubljana wine festival and the 55th annual Ljubljana Jazz festival. www.visitljubljana.com

•  One of Europe’s most diverse countries. From the majestic Alps, to vast forests, to the glimmering Mediterranean, experience one of Europe’s most beautiful and diverse destinations. www.slovenia.info

•  Home to stunning natural scenery. Ski in the verdant Julian Alps, gaze at the unbelievably clean waters of the Soča River and take a dip in the picture-perfect lakes of Bohinj and Bled. www.slovenia.info

•  Skiing made easy. This year, the introduction of the new ‘ESSV AS’ ski pass will give access to the majority of Slovenian ski resorts, and make booking that much easier. www.slovenia.info

•  Hosting the 2014 ABTA Travel Conference. The 2014 ABTA Travel Conference will be taking place in Ljubljana on the 22nd - 24th September. This comes on the back of the Travel Network Group Conference, held at Lake Bled earlier this year. thetravelconvention.com

•  Brand new flight routes. 2014 will see the announcement of brand new flights between the British Isles and Slovenia. Between May and September Adria Airways have two weekly flights scheduled between Ljubljana and both Manchester and London Gatwick. www.adria.si

Journalist opportunities.

We have several group press trips planned throughout the year, and would be more than happy to arrange tailor-made press trips, particularly in the build-up to the September ABTA Travel Convention.

A few press trip ideas:

•  Ljubljana and beyond. Take in the city's sights before exploring the surrounding countryside, wine regions, Lake Bled and the Postojna caves.

•  Slovenian indulgence. Visit some of Eastern Slovenia's top hotels, while also enjoying luxury spas as well as the country's best food and wine.

•  Adriatic to the Alps. Follow the Slovenian section of the famous Alpe Adria Trail, taking in the Julian Alps and the Adriatic Coast.

•  Active Slovenia. Slovenia is a natural playground. Come and try your hand at hiking, cycling, kayaking, fishing, golfing or even skiing.
