Goa tourism ministry has made a suggestion to the Center that visa-on-arrival facility should be extended to tourists from Russia, Germany, France and Netherlands

(TRAVPR.COM) NEW DELHI - July 22nd, 2013 - The Goa tourism ministry has put forth a suggestion that along with Russia, tourists from Germany, France and Netherlands, should be extended the facility of visa-on-arrival. They want to make sure that the state should receive maximum footfall at the time of peak season.

Dilip Parulekar, the tourism minister of Goa has just returned from Delhi after attending a meeting of the state tourism ministers. He informed that they have made a suggestion to Chiranjeevi, the Union Tourism Minister that tourists from Germany, France, Russia and Netherlands should be given the facility of Visa-on-arrival for their holidays in Goa.

While United Kingdom is the country from where the largest numbers of tourists arrive in Goa every year, Russia is on second position from where around a lakh of tourists arrive here.  He said, “I have requested Union Minister for Tourism Chiranjeevi to include more countries like Russia, Germany, France and Netherlands in the list of countries whose citizens can be granted visa-on-arrival facility”.

This facility is already being availed by the citizens of 30 different countries. They get visa-on-arrival for half a dozen of airports in India, which includes Dabolim airport of Goa.

This facility is being offered by Sri Lanka and South East Asia. Parulekar furthered that if this is done then the number foreign tourists to India will surely increase.

The minister also said that Goa’s tourism industry is grateful to the Centre that they have given permission for collective landing permits where a group of more than 4 tourists who visit Goa can get visas at the airport. This can happen only on one condition. The travel agent who has brought them here should make sure that all of them should stay together, following same itinerary.
