ABC'S BACHELORETTE GOES TO MADEIRA ISLAND
Industry: Destinations

ABC’s Bachelorette Desiree will look for her better half on one of the most romantic and adventures dates ever in Funchal.

(TRAVPR.COM) USA - May 22nd, 2013 - FUNCHAL-- Madeira Island, in Portugal, is the backdrop for a special date on “The Bachelorette's” new season. Premiering on Monday, May 27, ABC’s Bachelorette Desiree will look for her better half on one of the most romantic and adventures dates ever in Funchal.

For the second time, the reality show uses Portugal as scenery for a date. In the sixth season, the romantic ramparts of Castle of St. George, in Lisbon, and Sintra, recognized as one of the most fairytale places in the world, played host to a dreamy date.

On the new season, the Bachelorette will discover Madeira’s fascinating landscape and culture between a stroll through lush tropical gardens, tobogganing down the town's steep winding streets and a performance by a Fado singer.

On a one-on-one date, Desiree takes her suitor up a winding road through the clouds to the mountain peak of Pico do Arieiro for a romantic picnic and a fireworks display.

Madeira remains an uncrowned and sophisticated pearl of European charm, where visitors can experience the sea, mountain hiking, or city culture. Some of the greatest Americans discovered this secret a long time ago: George Washington was a great fan of Madeira wine and Ernest Hemmingway described his toboggan wicker basket as the “most exhilarating experience” of his life.

SATA Airlines offers escape to Madeira. The islands steep rise creates six unique climate zones, each with its own beautiful flora and fauna that contribute to the comparison of Madeira with Hawaii. With new flights from Boston and expanded packages for air and lodging, SATA has 6-night packages from Boston Logan Airport to Funchal (via the Azores) with more flights to choose from and eight hotels.

Hotels include the five-star Enotel Lido and Porto Santa Maria Hotel, and the four-star Four Views, Estrelicia, Cliff Bay, Pestana Carlton, Four views, and the new Pestana Promenade. All hotels offer seaside views, outdoor saltwater pools and full resort facilities and all packages include breakfast. Kids under 6 stay free, and pay only a child’s airfare.

SATA Airlines has connected North America with Portugal for more than 30 years. Today it offers direct flights on a wide body A310 aircraft to São Miguel, the main island in the Azores archipelago. Connecting flights from São Miguel to Lisbon, Porto and/or the islands of Madeira are available. The company is part of the SATA Group.
