HOTELSCHOOLSEARCH.COM COMMENTS AS HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY PREPARES FOR GROWTH IN 2013
Industry: Events

Hotelschoolsearch.com, a site dedicated to providing advice and assistance in finding hospitality management, tourism and culinary schools around the world, has commented on a recent poll that suggests that the hotel industry is preparing for growth in 2013.

(TRAVPR.COM) AUSTRALIA - February 1st, 2013 - London, UK (16th January 2013) – Hotelschoolsearch.com, a site dedicated to providing advice and assistance in finding hospitality management, tourism and culinary schools around the world, has commented on a recent poll that suggests that the hotel industry is preparing for growth in 2013.

According to the poll, hotels are planning to hire more employees as well as putting more resources towards marketing and increasing capital investments. 600 global hoteliers were surveyed, with almost a third (31%) saying they will make incremental hires in 2013. Of that 31%, the majority (59%) will be front desk staff, whilst 37% will be sales managers, 16.4% will be marketing professionals, and 15.5% will be revenue managers.

However, a spokesperson for Hotelschoolsearch.com has said that students shouldn’t get too excited by these findings. He said: “Whilst this might sound promising in the midst of the economy downfall, hotel school students who are graduating soon need to take this with a pinch of salt. They will still continue to face strong competition when trying to get a job and especially when trying to get into any of the management trainee programmes. Chances are they would also have to relocate to destinations they might not have considered before if they want to climb the corporate ladder.”

The spokesperson went on to say that, although these findings may not be as encouraging as they seem, hotel school students can still find solace in the skills and knowledge they have gained whilst studying at the hotel schools.

He continued: “For starters the education they are exposed to gives them many transferable skills that can be applied to various sectors. Students should not just define themselves as being only able to work in a hotel or in the kitchen etc. The hospitality sector encapsulates more than that. If there is truth in the survey, students should gear up to know that they would have an advantage over other business school graduates as investors would be seeking for individuals who have the know-how and the ins and outs of the hospitality industry to secure their investment.”

The company also suggest that students may want to consider becoming their own boss at some point in the future. According to Kiplinger, which published the ten best work at home jobs, four out of these ten suggestions relate to skills that students can gain at a hotel school, including culinary consultant, customer service representative, personal concierge, and virtual assistants.
