Easy visa processes, short travel time, and great connectivity have made Southeast Asian countries popular holiday destinations for Indian citizens.
(TRAVPR.COM) UNITED ARAB EMIRATES - March 25th, 2026 - Rayna Tours, a travel arrangement company with professional visa services, has noticed a growing interest among Indians towards Southeast Asia. While simplified visa process is one of the main reasons for shifting the Indian outbound travel, the frequency of flights from Indian to these countries is also another reason Indians are frequenting to Southeast Asia.
Many of the Southeast Asian countries have simplified their visa processes for Indian passport holders. Indians are eligible for visa-free entry, visa-on-arrival, and e-visa to visit most of the countries in Southeast Asia. For instance, Indians do not need Malaysia visa, as Malaysia allows visa-free stay to Indians. With a valid passport, Indians can enter and stay in Malaysia for 30 days without a visa.
Philippines visa and Thailand visa are also not required for Indian citizens, as Indians can enjoy visa-free entry to both these countries. With the visa-free access, Indian travelers can stay in Philippines for 14 days and in Thailand for 60 days. Valid passport, sufficient bank balance, confirmed return tickets, and accommodation details are required to get this visa-free entry.
Several other Southeast Asian countries offer e-visa to Indian nationals. Singapore visa is available as an electronic-visa to Indian citizens with an eligibility to stay in the country for 30 days. On the other hand, Indonesia visais available as visa-on-arrival or e-visa-on-arrival for Indians for a 30-day stay.
“With visa-on-arrival, e-visa, visa-free entry, tourists do not have to bother about the lengthy visa process that is often associated with international travel. E-visas are processed online within a few days, and visa-free and visa-on-arrival entries take an hour or so at the immigration. The ease of getting these Southeast Asian visas has made traveling easier for Indians,” said Senthil Velan, the CEO of Rayna Tours.
The Indian outbound travel to Southeast Asia has also increased due to the frequent flights to these countries. Almost all major airports in India have regular flights to the popular Southeast Asian destinations like Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, and Indonesia.
“Several airlines have daily flights from India to these countries. These airlines offer competitive pricing on flight tickets, making it possible to travel to these countries on a budget,” adds Mr. Velan.
Moreover, the flight duration from India to most of these countries is short, making them perfect for a quick getaway. Indians today are keener on taking short breaks of 4-5 days and hence seek destinations that are easier to reach and offer value for money.
Southeast Asia holds a deep fascination among Indians. The exotic locales of Indonesia, the breathtaking beaches of Thailand, the cultural attractions of Malaysia, the natural landscapes of Philippines, and the vibrant city and modern attractions of Singapore are reasons why Indians love visiting Southeast Asian destinations.
The combination of easy visas, frequent and affordable flights, and unique experiences that Southeast Asia is known for, is the reason many Indians are preferring the east for their holidays. Along with Rayna Tours visa services, this travel company also offers different types of tour packages to almost all Southeast Asian countries.
