FURTHERPASS: INDISPENSABLE FOR AIRLINE COMPANIES IN THE NEW ERA OF INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL
Industry: Technology

FurtherPass is one of the state-of-the-art products that connects airlines and health centers for passengers.

(TRAVPR.COM) UNITED KINGDOM - April 1st, 2022

Travel regulations such as COVID-19 tests and quarantine on arrival, which are indispensable for international travel today, can be controlled on a single platform through digital health passports in the new era. In this context, FurtherPass is one of the state-of-the-art products that connects airlines and health centers for passengers.

According to experts in the health sector, it is predicted that regulations such as presenting a vaccination certificate/test result in daily life or wearing a mask in public places, will gradually decrease as seen in many countries. Of course, the decrease of restrictions is expected to be reflected in the travel industry. With current data, the proportion of countries requesting quarantine on arrival dropped 11% from January to February. The number of these countries is expected to decrease further over time. According to experts in the travel industry, as long as the pandemic remains current, the self-isolation/quarantine rules expected from passengers will be replaced by vaccination cards, and as a result, digital health passports that provide this control in the fastest way for airline employees will begin to take a permanent place in our lives.

Control processes of passport, ticket, and health documents, which are the responsibility of airline employees, can cause confusion from time to time due to the increase in documents requested during the pandemic period. In these processes, there may be problems, especially when checking the compliance of the passenger's health data with the ruleset of the destination country. As the complexity and variability of the country's rule sets make digital control difficult, airline personnel have to manually match and control the passenger's health data for each travel location and the regulation of the destination country. In some countries, airline companies may face fines of up to 25,000 Euros per passenger in cases such as incorrect certificate acceptance or false document declaration. The fact that these documents, which the airline personnel check before the flight, are verified with a single QR Code instead of paper documents, can prevent many problems for the airline.

FurtherPass creates a digital record in case of a possible problem, ensuring that the airline has made the necessary checks and makes the process quite seamless for both the passenger and the airline. In this context, SunExpress has started cooperation with FurtherPass, which digitally performs pre-flight passenger transactions, travel health documents and identity checks on behalf of the airline. It is planned to start the third phase of the pilot study in the coming days.

FurtherPass also makes a difference by incorporating many current digital systems in it. The FurtherPass App, which can be used by passengers by uploading their EUDCC (EU Digital Covid Certificate) valid in 42 countries, and the e-Nabiz Certificate which is valid in Turkey, provides a safe travel experience to the passengers. Also, with the services it provides before the flight, it avoids the problem of travel document verification, which is one of the biggest problems experienced by airline companies in international travels in today's conditions by processing all data sets on a single platform.
