The daughter of the legendary Charles Chaplin, actress Geraldine Chaplin, and American actor Danny Glover, will be the guest speakers at the fifth edition of the Dominican Republic Global Film Festival, which will take place from November 15-20 in the Dominican Republic and Haiti.

This year’s festival edition is dedicated to actress Maria Montez, the first Dominican actress to make it big in Hollywood.  This year the Festival’s most popular film will receive the “Queen of Technicolor” award, which the name was given to Maria Montez during her Hollywood years.  The statue handed to the winner will be inspired by her figure.

The festival has programmed 50 films which will be screened in several cities, including Cap Cana in Punta Cana.  US actor Sean Penn is supporting the festival in Port-au-Prince. The Democracy and Development Foundation, headed by Dominican President Leonel Fernandez, is the festival organizer.
