Appoints two new Regional Managers

(TRAVPR.COM) SOUTH AFRICA - October 27th, 2011 - South African Airways (SAA), Africa’s most awarded airline has restructured the management of its Africa and Middle East (ME) region and also announced the appointment of two new senior leadership team members.

Under the restructuring exercise, the airline’s Africa & ME region is now split into three distinct sub-regions:

·         East Africa and Middle East – (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Burundi and Rwanda)

·         North, West and Central Africa – (Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Ivory Coast, DRC, Gabon, Cameroon, Benin Republic)

·         Southern Africa and Indian Ocean Islands – (Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mauritius, and Angola). Brad Edwards is the Regional Manager for this region.

The airline also announced the appointment of two Regional Managers in the Africa and Middle East region. This is in line with its structure for the Africa region headed by Aaron Munetsi who is the Regional General Manager based at Airways Park, the airline’s headquarters in Johannesburg.

Austin Nyawara has been appointed as Regional Manager: East Africa and Middle East. He will be based in Nairobi, where he will oversee the implementation of our strategic goals into the East Africa region. Austin has been in the airline industry for over 9 years and has gained invaluable experience where he was spearheading the growth of Kenya Airways in West Africa.

Ohis Ehimiaghe has been appointed as the Regional Manager: North, West and Central Africa. He will be based in Lagos with effect from 1 November 2011. He will relocate from Luanda where he is currently stationed in the capacity of Country Manager for Angola.  Ohis has been with SAA for over four years, with an additional 10 years experience in aviation having worked in Lagos, for various airlines and travel management companies. Ohis brings a wealth of knowledge of the West and Central African operating environment.

According to Theunis Potgieter, GM – Commercial SAA, these two appointments conclude the senior leadership team of the airline’s Africa and Middle East region.
