Industry: Travel Guides

Everybody Wants to Have a Good Vacation. And Everybody Loves a Good Deal. Visit BookingBoom.Com To Plan Your Next Trip!

(TRAVPR.COM) USA - October 14th, 2011 - When visiting Puerto Vallarta and you are in the mood to explore the villages/towns nearby then you're in luck because there are some great nearby destinations that you can visit. Just a few hours away from the resort area you will find the laid back pace of charming fishing villages, the old-world atmosphere of colonial towns and the dramatic landscape of the Sierra.

Travel to Sayulita, located in an enchanting bay and you will discover amazing surf scene perfect for those who want a seen beach getaway. It is also home to beachfront restaurants whose seafood dishes and fantastic views are the specials for the day. A great way to indulge the scenery while dining in great restaurants.

A boat ride to the south will bring you to Yelapa where you will not find electricity nor motor vehicles but better yet - there is plenty of fresh seafood to feast on, two amazing waterfalls and various exciting outdoor activities to keep you busy. Other tranquil coastline jaunts to check out are: Bucerias and San Francisco to the north as well as Quimixto and Las Animas to the south - all stunning getaways for those who want to escape from it all.

San Blas is one destination no nature lover can afford to miss. Travel time takes about 3 to 4 hours but it is definitely worth it! First stop will be at the La Tovarra River where you will get on board a motorboat and go upriver to explore the rich diversity of nature surrounding you. Glide along mangrove forests and discover dozens of bird species, crocodiles and turtles, along the way.

After your exciting adventure in the estuaries, head back to the old town for a bit of sightseeing or you can proceed to Las Islitas for an afternoon of surfing. If you want other fun activities then you can try hiking through coffee plantations along Camino Real or visiting the picture-perfect little town of La Bajada up in the mountains.

Furthermore, you can also head to Tepic . It is going to be a long ride but a worthwhile visual feast of colors, culture and beautiful smiling faces all the way. Once you get to the sprawling capital of Nayarit , visit the Regional Museum at the beautiful 18th century neoclassical grand building and check out the collection of pre-Hispanic relics, colonial paintings and the rich cultural heritage of the indigenous tribe of Huichol.

You can still find a good number of Huichol people around the town so just be in the lookout for people garbed in their colorful traditional attire and keep your camera ready. A visit to Palacio de Gobierno is also worthwhile for the remarkable murals housed inside.

Finally, if you love art, especially traditional art then make sure to check out Museo de los Cuatros Pueblos where you will find outstanding art work of Nayarit's four indigenous tribes. Although Puerto Vallarta is an amazing city and you may find it difficult to leave the beautiful beaches, you will get more out if your trip if you explore at least one of the nearby destinations.
