Running the Sahara reports record registration for the toughest footrace on earth

(TRAVPR.COM) ENGLAND - October 13th, 2011 - Record demand for the 2013 Marathon des Sables has been confirmed by Running the Sahara, the UK, Ireland and South African organisers of the "Toughest footrace on the planet". Entries for this event are now closed, with a waitlist nearly at capacity.

The Marathon des Sables now in it's 27 year is a 250km footrace across the Sahara in southern Morocco - in some of the harshest, most demanding terrain on the Planet. 1,000 competitors from 34 countries run for 6 days, carrying all their food, bedding and equipment to experience this once in a lifetime event. Completed by James Cracknell in 2010, who now holds the record as the fastest UK competitor ever to complete the "MDS" this iconic event is the ultimate "Ultra"

2014 Marathon des Sables will be open for registrations in May 2012.
