(TRAVPR.COM) UA - October 5th, 2011 - Bretton Woods, NH - Mount Washington Cog Railway offers families an exhilarating experience like none other. A ride on the Mt. Washington Cog Railway includes much more than a train journey up the steep slope of Mt. Washington. It also includes a view of New Hampshire’s fall foliage on route to the top of Mount Washington, the highest point in all New England.

There are many activities to occupy the whole family from the base station and museum of the Cog, to experiencing the ride up on the only train in the world entirely built on a trestle or enjoying the sweeping views from the summit. Guests can browse through the gift shop, Cog Railway Museum and restaurant before getting on the Cog at the Marshfield base station. Once at the top, guests have an hour to experience the unbelievable view that spans out for miles, plus the state park, weather station, museum, and historic sites.

Join the Cogger Club and pay $149 to ride the Cog as many times as you want until December 2012. Cogger Club members also receive discounts for family and guests. See our website for details on blackout dates for Cogger Club members.

The Mt. Washington Cog Railway, an American first, ran its first locomotive on July 3, 1869. New Hampshire native, Sylvester Marsh thought to build the railway after being lost near the summit of Mt. Washington. He worked to give people an easier way to visit the summit of Mt. Washington. The railway now uses biodiesel locomotives, but also has a coal-fired steam locomotive that generally operates early each day.
