SLEEPING UNDER THE STARS IN MOZAMBIQUE
Industry: Destinations

Falling asleep in the arms of your lover under a clear African sky of twinkling stars is probably one of the most romantic things will ever do.

(TRAVPR.COM) - June 15th, 2018 - Falling asleep in the arms of your lover under a clear African sky of twinkling stars is probably one of the most romantic things will ever do.

For most of us, we reside in built-up, concrete jungles, where our security is always our primary concern, so the idea of the freedom of a wall-less bedroom, with no-one else around (other than your significant other), does sound extremely inviting!

The concept is that an elaborate, four-poster bed, dressed in crisp, white luxurious linen, draped in an elegant mosquito net, is placed in a stunning location - normally just far enough from the main lodge to feel alone. Dinner is then served, either at the location, or before you leave for the location. Then you are left to re-connect with open space, the nocturnal sounds of nature and of course with your loved one.

Nkwichi Lodge, located in northern Mozambique (on the banks of Lake Malawi), offers this incredible experience to their guests. There is a choice of three different locations:- on a rocky outcrop (surrounded by water); or a deserted beach (surrounded by baobab trees); or a-top the elevated viewpoint with an incredible sunsets and morning vistas over the lake – the location is determined by the elements, and which is most suitable at the time.

Lauren Slater, Reservations Manager from Nkwichi Lodge believes that the Nkwichi star bed is not only for romantic couples.  She says, when asked what type of guests is the experience most suited to, “I would say the Star Bed is for anybody who has a yearning to sleep under an open sky, far from any lights and noise and human interference. Honeymooners and couples will love it for it’s incredibly romantic setting; families will find they have so much more to talk about than they thought they did, while sitting next to a fire, seeing who can spot the first shooting star.”

A previous Nkwichi guest was quoted saying, “...don't miss the star bed and the opportunity to sleep al fresco after eating your dinner on the beach and star gazing next to a beach fire. Nothing is perfect, but this came pretty close."

Another Mozambican Star-Bed experience to watch out for is at Anantara Medjumbe, located on a tiny island in the Quirimbas Archipelago. They have taken their star bed concept one step further, where you are left alone on a completely different, nearby island! It simply does not get better than this. Adam Beadon, Regional Director of Sales and Marketing Africa from Minor Hotels said “the guests are mostly captured by the absolute exclusiveness of the experience”, when asked what guests liked most about their experience.

“Mozambique is fast becoming one of the most popular honeymoon destinations, mainly due to the vast diversity of activities that are mainly included in the normal rates”, says Kim Rossi, of The Mozambique Collection. “For most travelers to Africa, Mozambique is not always the first choice, but the destination fast becoming a favorite of those that are seeking something a little bit different, a bit quieter and a little bit more remote.”

She continues to say, “the honeymoons booked by The Mozambique Collection to Mozambique, so far, have been a resounding success, and couples have not been disappointed by the uniqueness of the destination, or the attention to detail given by the lodges. We know that Mozambique, as a romantic destination, will continue to grow within our business, and we look forward to tailor-making more honeymoons and romantic breakaways!”
