(TRAVPR.COM) UK - June 10th, 2011 - Camping company Vango has invented a range of tents that take the hassle out of setting up camp. They can be inflated in under 60 seconds – by a single person.

According to statistics from price comparison company Idealo, Vango is the most popular brand of tent in the UK. The UK company is known for quality products at affordable prices, and the new Velocity tent is no exception. It’s made from inflatable tubes that are rigid when pumped up. A valve regulates the pressure within the tubes so that the tent doesn’t collapse at night when the temperature drops, making it perfect for British campers. Once inflated, the tent does need to be pegged in, but this takes just two minutes for the smallest version and four minutes for the largest one.

Pop-up tents, which were introduced five years ago, did a good job of simplifying camping. They have flexible poles that spring into shape when unpacked, making setup quick and easy. Pop-ups are also flexible and suitable for windy weather. Taking them down, however, is not as easy as setting them up as the poles are difficult to fold up again. Another criticism is that they are too bulky.

Vango’s Velocity range, which features what the company calls AirBeam technology, offers easier setup than a pop-up does and also takes the hassle out of taking down and transporting a tent. There are three tents in the range, sized at 200, 300 and 400. The smallest, the Velocity 200, weighs in at 6.65 kg, with a pack size of 53 x 51 x 24cm.

The Velocity 200, 300 and 400 all come with a Protex 6000 polyester flysheet, a breathable polyester inner, PVC windows and an AirBeam pump for inflation. The two-person Velocity 200 is priced at £235, the three-person Velocity 300 at £325 and the four-person Velocity 400 at £415.
