(TRAVPR.COM) UK - September 21st, 2016 - Ntchisi Forest Lodge situated at the foot of one of the last remaining indigenous rainforests in an isolated spot of Lilongwe, are hosting Birding Weekend from 7 – 9 October 2016. Visitors are welcome to the stunning location for a few days of diving into the rich bird life of the reserve.

Birds that can be found amongst many others include the bar tailed trogon, the louribird, olive headed weaver as well as the pale billed hornbill, stripe cheeked greenbul and the orange ground thrush.

The Birding Weekend is in collaboration with WESM and will be led by Ken Longden, David Yekutiel and Edward Maferano, all great bird experts and enthusiasts. With the bird counts that will be done during the weekend, scientific knowledge will be gained and there will be specific input for bird conservation. You can be part of this!

Ntchisi Forest Reserve covers approximately 75 sqkm and is surrounded on all sides by rolling hills covered by subsistence farming and dotted with traditional villages. It is an untouched paradise, entirely undiscovered by mass tourism. Bird life is prolific and this is an excellent destination for the professional or amateur bird watcher due to the variety of habitats. Some mammals, butterflies, and strange and unknown plants and orchids are also plentiful.

Besides the birding, you can indulge in delicious home cooked meals every day. Hosts Eduard and Maaike and the team will welcome you and make sure you will have a wonderful stay! The weekend will start on Friday evening 7th October, and will end on Sunday 9th October early afternoon.
