TANZANIA SAFARI SUPREMACY ASKS; SERENGETI SHALL NOT DIE OR THE DEATH OF SERENGETI?
Industry: Tour Ops

Serengeti Shall not die is a famous documentary that was directed by the Greman Cinematographer in 1959. The Phrase has been famous ever since. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete is assuring the world that he shall not kill Serengeti.

(TRAVPR.COM) TANZANIA - February 21st, 2011 - Serengeti shall not die a famous phrase with Tanzania Safari goers and nature enthusiast alike has been in the threat of change and a change for the worst. It was but may be 'still is' on the threat of changing for the worst , who knows?

The Serengeti National park is the scene of the largest mass movement of wildlife and the most amazing animal spectacle on earth; The wildebeest Migration. This amazing natural phenomenon is also refereed by many as the Great Migration. Some ; La Grand Migrazione.

This phenomenon involves an annual movement of some more than a million wildebeests accompanied by some more than two hundred zebras and gazelles who together move from Serengeti in Tanzania to Masai Mara in Kenya in search for greener pastures and water. This world class spectacle has lead to the National park Serengeti being declared as a World heritage site by the UN body UNESCO. Meaning; the world is watching everything happening to and in Serengeti and indeed; the world now owns Serengeti National park and not the Tanzania Government.

Recently the Government of Tanzania under the leadership of Jakaya Kikwete has been on very high scrutiny and criticism by nature enthusiasts, world travel stake holders and conservation bodies over a proposed highway that would run across the northern tip of Serengeti National Park. Some even threatened not to do a Safari in tanzania if the plans will go on as planned, and some travel agents said they would start to avoid 'selling' Tanzania as a tourist destination.

Due to the pressure The Government has come out to clear the air through a statement by the president of Tanzania who has denied having any plans or motives to ' Kill Serengeti. He has clarified that indeed the building of the highway will go on as planned but the Tarmac will end at the boundaries. The Section that is inside the park will remain graveled and the government has no plans to improve it to bitumen standards.

The question that still lingers in stake holders heads is what about the conservation areas that surround Serengeti? Wildebeests and their companions; the Zebras and gazelles are 'wild' meaning not tamed. The herds cross other areas like the Loliondo Game Controlled areas where the tarmac road may touch. Will this not affect the Serengeti Wildebeest Migration? We shall wait and see? or should we raise questions to the authorities.
