NEW EXECUTIVE CHEF JOINS HYATT REGENCY KATHMANDU

The newly appointed executive chef “Mr.Nandakumar Gopi” got opportunity to cook for Mr. Narendra Modi.

(TRAVPR.COM) INDIA - September 1st, 2014 - Kathmandu, Nepal - Hyatt Regency Kathmandu welcomes a new Executive Chef, Mr Nandakumar Gopi, who took charge as Executive Chef on 15 July 2014. As soon as he joined the hotel he had the opportunity to cook for Mr Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, during his recent visit to Nepal. For Chef Gopi, food is an enjoyable experience that brings friends and family together. With thirteen years of dynamic culinary experience, Chef Gopi has worked in numerous celebrated and world–renowned kitchens such as The Taj Group of hotels and the Heritage Park Hotel Honiara, Solomon Islands, Australia. Chef Gopi began his culinary career working as a Commis Chef at Taj President, Mumbai, learning the essentials of busy kitchens. He then worked his way up to Demi Chef De Partie at Taj Blue Diamond in Pune.

After several prestigious stops, the most significant stint in his career was as Executive Chef at Heritage Park Hotel Honiara, Solomon Islands, Australia; where he honed his craft and earned a reputation for refined Italian, Oriental and South Indian food. He served as the Executive Sous Chef at Hyatt Regency Chennai before joining Hyatt Regency Kathmandu. He is excited to establish new roots and expand his global epicurean repertoire, and explore yet another picturesque setting.
 
He has spent his distinguished career building up his reputation and expanding his knowledge in a wide range of cuisines and techniques, mainly utilising fresh and local ingredients. He attempts to share his unique tastes and style by creating scrumptious cuisine for his guests.

Chef Gopi has had the honour of cooking for celebrities like former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam, Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Ratan Tata, the Ambani Brothers, and the Godrej and Bajaj families. In a programme organised by the Australian Trade Commission at Hyatt Regency Chennai, he had a friendly one-on-one cook-off - which was judged by the Honorary Australian Consulate General - with Chef Gary Mehigan, best known for his role as a judge in Master Chef Australia.

He is a graduate of Indira Gandhi National Open University, having earned a degree in B.B.A (H.R) before enrolling at the Asan Memorial Institute of Hotel Management, where he obtained a diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology.
