Luis Namnum Joins ARDA Board of Directors

(TRAVPR.COM) USA - June 23rd, 2014 - (SANTO DOMINGO, DR) –Luis Namnum, President of Occidental Vacation Club (OVC) has been selected to the elite Board of Directors of the American Resort Development Association (ARDA).  Namnum has served as president of OVC for 17 years.  OVC, a division of Occidental Hotels and Resorts (Madrid) includes resorts in Aruba, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and Mexico.  With nearly 25,000 members and 11 properties, the organization is heralded for being one of the first to bring all-inclusive resorts into the timeshare arena.

The American Resort Development Association (ARDA) is the Washington D.C.-based trade association representing the vacation ownership and resort development industries (timeshares). ARDA has almost 1,000 corporate members ranging from privately held firms to publicly traded corporations with extensive experience in shared ownership interests in leisure real estate. The membership also includes timeshare owner associations (HOAs), resort management companies, industry vendors, suppliers, and consultants; as well as owners through the ARDA Resort Owners Coalition (ARDA-ROC).  In addition to the 1600 resorts located in the U.S., ARDA is also part of the international timeshare community the Global Alliance for Timeshare Excellence (GATE) made of member organizations in Australia, Canada, Europe and South Africa.  

The ARDA Board is the governing body of the Association which is responsible for the overall supervision, control and direction of the Association. Recognizing the elastic nature of the industry, and the growing importance of the Caribbean region, ARDA’s Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and members with interests in the Caribbean region agreed that 2009 was the year to reinvigorate and expand the efforts of the ARDA-Caribbean Committee.
