These itineraries make up SITA’s new Multi-Generational programs- Family Friendly Journeys.
Family Friendly Journeys was created in response to the increasing demand for itineraries catering to travelers of all ages together on the same program. The purpose of SITA’s Family Friendly Journeys is to provide memory making, authentic experiences designed to satisfy each member of a multi-generational group of travelers, whether they are an inquisitive young child, an energetic parent or a grandparent wanting a little more relaxation. “Travel is a great opportunity for families to take a break from their busy lives and get together to partake in enriching experiences,” says Mary Barnett, Family Concierge Sales for SITA World Tours. “The Family Friendly Journeys programs offer appealing activities for everyone and encourages bonding amongst family and friends.” Programs currently available from SITA’s Family Friendly Journeys include China, Vietnam, Israel, Kenya Safari, and Thailand.
SITA places a special emphasis on authenticity and family bonding when crafting these programs. The Family Friendly Journey – China program, for example, offers intrepid travelers a true immersion into authentic China, while allowing leisure time for families to explore on their own and spend quality time together. Some of the activities available on the China program include hiking a panda habitat near the pristine, mountain village of Mt. Qingcheng, taking a Kung Fu class at the Linden Centre, and experiencing the local culinary and tea culture. SITA takes into consideration a balance of relaxation and activities for families with young children, such as allotting time for rest after a plane journey before climbing the Great Wall and visiting the Forbidden City.
Each program can operate with just a minimum of two passengers and is recommended for travelers ages six and beyond. Four passengers are required for a through guide and six passengers for a youth guide. By the end of 2014, SITA plans to extend the line to include programs to Peru, Galapagos, Brazil and Turkey.
