The fifth edition of the French Riviera Marathon, also known as the Marathon des Alpes-Maritimes, will kick off at 8.00 a.m. on Sunday, 4th November 2012, after runners assemble on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, located along the scenic Cote d'Azur.
(TRAVPR.COM)UK - October 24th, 2012 - Before arriving at the finish line on the Boulevard de la Croisette, located in Cannes, the runners will traverse a route along the seaside of the French Riviera that requires slightly more than 42 kilometres of fierce and determined running.
Participants in the French Riviera Marathon can expect a number of bonuses along the way. Before even setting out, they will report to the French Riviera Marathon Expo where they will receive not only their personal race number, but also the special gift of a millennium backpack.
Those who cross the finish line will be awarded a medal for finishing the 2012 edition of the race along with a t-shirt celebrating their achievement as a technical finisher. Official times will be available for all participants via the Marathon French Riviera website.
During the race itself, there will be aid stations positioned at every five kilometres, designed to fortify runners with water, soda, and a variety of food items such as fresh and dried fruit, as well as sugar and chocolate. In addition, the aid stations at 20 and 30 kilometres will provide runners with energy drinks, while aid stations situated at the halfway point between food stations will provide water and sponges.
Runners are also encouraged to indulge in free services designed to make their participation as pleasant as possible, such as a cloakroom transport service that will allow them to leave their personal items in Nice and retrieve them again in Cannes, at the conclusion of the race.
