A glimpse into the Indian Buddhist heritage
(TRAVPR.COM) INDIA - October 3rd, 2012 - The Buddhist world involving many nations participated in an International Buddhist Conclave 2012. Held in Varanasi from September 29th-30th, 2012 and concluded at Bodhgaya on October 1st 2012, this conclave brought together the thinking minds towards the common cause of Buddhist pilgrimage and promoting Buddhist circuit.
This remarkable event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and state governments of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The main aim for this conclave was to project and present the Buddhist heritage of India on a global platform. International Buddhist scholars, tour operators and media from 30 different countries graced this occasion. These different voices, together on a dais reinforced one common message; to bring into life Buddha and his teachings.
Besides the hosting states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the other Indian states with strong Buddhist links also participated in the event. Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra and Odisha represented the minor Buddhist Circuit of India. These specific presentations brought into light the hidden Buddhist heritage in the form of stupas, monastic complexes, caves and edicts.
This event brought together the thinking minds through interactive panel based sessions. Trips to Sarnath Stupa and Museum near Varanasi and Bodhgaya also formed the highlights of this event. This three day conclave concluded in the territory of enlightenment, Bodhgaya.
The main purpose of this conclave was to introduce to the world the blissful Buddhist heritage bestowed on India. This event is observed as an important development designed to bring together Buddhist fraternities so that they can interact and promote the Buddhist heritage of India, in addition to Buddhist-Pilgrimage.
Buddhist-Pilgrimage also represented the Buddhist Circuit of India with great zeal during this event. It was great to meet the Buddhist world at large in India and share the thoughts, ideas and prospects of Buddha’s land on a common platform.
