From 8th October to 14th October 2012, the CordeValle Golf Club in scenic San Martin, California will host the prestigious Frys.com Open Golf Tournament, a PGA tour official event.
(TRAVPR.COM)UK - October 2nd, 2012 - The CordeValle Golf Club course, designed by renowned golf architect Robert Trent Jones Junior, is more than 7,300 yards long and features 72-hole stroke play. The tournament boasts a purse worth $5,000,000 in all, with a winner's share just $100,000 short of a full million dollars.
Net proceeds are designated to benefit a variety of charities including the American Institute of Mathematics, located in Palo Alto, California, as well as the California Golf Association Foundation and the Bonnis J Addario Lung Cancer Foundation.
Defending Champion Bryce Molder will be on hand. Mr Molder's golf résumé features 25 tournaments where he finished in the top ten contenders. Other top-notch professional golfers who have already committed to participate in the Frys.com Open Golf Tournament include Ernie Els, David Love III, Robert Garrigus, John Huh, and Bud Cauley.
The first round will kick off at 7.20 a.m. on Thursday, 11th October, with tour participants teeing off at the 1st and 10th holes. The professional golfers will proceed in groups of three, but official pairings and tee times have not yet been arranged. The second round will begin the next day at the same time, with trios of golfers beginning at the 1st and 10th holes once again.
On Saturday, the competition's third round will begin later, at 9.00 a.m. with golfers playing in groups of two, beginning only at the 1st hole. Tee times will be based on each golfer's current placement on the leaderboard.
The final round will be played on Sunday, 14th October, beginning at 9.00 a.m., followed by a closing ceremony on the 18th green at the conclusion of play.
