Friendly Planet Travel’s eight-day Discover Amalfi tour is just $1,999.
(TRAVPR.COM) UNITED STATES - September 27th, 2012 - Jaw-dropping views of the crystal blue Mediterranean, legendary colorful villages, savory red wine, delicious handmade pasta, and exquisite shopping define Italy’s Amalfi Coast. Travelers can explore the beautiful coastal villages, one more beautiful than the next, that dazzle the senses with brilliant, warm people and beaches, with Friendly Planet Travel’s eight-day Discover Amalfi tour for just $1,999.
“We are thrilled to be offering our brand-new Discover Amalfi tour so travelers can discover the very definition of La Dolce Vita, the sweet life, in Italy’s dramatically beautiful, daring, and romantic Amalfi Coast,” says Peggy Goldman, President of Friendly Planet Travel. “We pulled out all the stops, along with first-class amenities, for this package to give travelers eight days of brilliant sights in these towns that are as old as time. We also hand selected winter departure dates so our travelers can enjoy this destination while the weather is still mild and there are fewer tourists.”
Friendly Planet Travel’s eight-day Discover Amalfi package includes round-trip airfare from New York (JFK); fuel surcharges, airline taxes, and fees; all ground transportation and transfers; accommodations in first-class hotels; 13 bountiful meals (including six buffet breakfasts, one lunch, and six dinners); comprehensive touring programs including entrance fees; HEAR CLEAR headphones for enhanced sightseeing; an Italian cooking class; and a professional English-speaking tour manager and local guides.
Discover Amalfi takes travelers through Amalfi’s coastal towns, starting in charming Minori, founded in the 7th Century B.C., where travelers enjoy a walking tour, a visit to a Limoncello factory for a tasting of Italy’s famous lemon-flavored liqueur, and take part in an afternoon cooking class at their hotel, Villa Romana. The tour then departs for a full day excursion to the UNESCO World Heritage towns of Amalfi and Ravello, where travelers explore Amalfi’s medieval architecture, as well as the famous gardens of Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo in Ravello.
The tour then continues with a day trip to Pompeii, Positano, and Sorrento. Discover Pompeii’s ancient history and remarkably preserved ruins of the city’s temples, homes, and gardens, buried in volcanic lava and ash 2000 years ago. From there, travelers visit the town of Positano to explore the elegant boutiques, craft stores, and famous pastel-colored houses. In Sorrento, travelers have lunch, and are then free to explore the town on their own with a leisurely stroll, gelato, or shopping. On the way back to Minori, visit the Emerald Grotto, named for the colors that fill the cave.
Travelers then head to the fabled Isle of Capri via jetfoil boat for a day of exploration. Lastly, visit the lively port town of Salerno, the site of the Allied landing in 1942, for a full-day excursion. Here, travelers visit Paestum, one of the best collections of Greek temples in Western Europe, and a buffalo mozzarella factory to learn about the cheese making process and sample some of the cheese.
Friendly Planet’s eight-day Discover Amalfi tour is available on the departure dates of Jan. 13, Feb. 3 and March 2 if booked by Oct. 9.
