Golf enthusiasts the world over are invited to attend the 69th celebration of the Italian Golf Open to be held at the Royal Park Golf and Country Club in Turin, Italy.
(TRAVPR.COM)UK - September 6th, 2012 - For the past three years, German car manufacturer BMW has sponsored this key event on the European golf tour and the company has elected to continue its support for 2012. The golf event takes place between 13th and 16th September and will be presented by CartaSi, a digital signature solution for credit cards.
The BMW Italian Open was first held in 1925, when it was a national championship golf tournament for male golfers. It has been part of the European Tour since the very beginning, having been selected in 1972 when the championship was first established. The course is a par 72 with a total playing length of 6,600 metres and is designed to make use of a stroke play format.
The last time the BMW Italian Open took place, the prize fund for the event totalled some €1.5 million; however, when compared to other European Tour golf events that take place on the continent this is considered a rather modest purse.
The 2011 edition of the BMW Italian Open saw a victory, by a single stroke, for Robert Rock of England, who completed is final round with a score of 67, finishing with a total aggregate of 267. Rock had been competing on the European Tour for nine years before this win, which was his very first on the tour, despite his long participation on it.
