The restaurant has been very passionately conceptualized by Salim Touma who hails from Lebanon and is the General Manager of Coral Boutique Hotel Apartments. “It is inspired from childhood memories of my mother’s kitchen that used to be a hub of activity with the whole family coming together for absolutely delicious and wholesome meals. I want to give our guests a taste of that authentic home-made food at Ya Baladi.”

No wonder there is nothing stiff about Ya Baladi. The venue has been clearly designed as a place not just to eat good food but to chill out. In fact, it is very different from the many eateries in the vicinity.  Best of all, the restaurant has an understated interior giving a real-feel of a café in Beirut. Salim stresses, “It is a place without any pretentions – just like your own kitchen where you can be yourself. The ambience is extremely casual and laid back. During the cooler months guests can enjoy al fresco dining on the open terrace.”

On the menu is a diverse selection of appealing traditional favourites such as Foul Harr, Jawaneh Meshwiyeh, Kallaj Biljibin, Hamri Bel Forn, Dajaj Mahshi and Samak Sayadiah among other dishes. There is also a daily speciality available throughout the week like Mahashi on Mondays, Mulokhia on Tuesdays, Bamia on Wednesdays, Kibbeh Bil Laban on Thursdays, Mujadara on Fridays and Djaj Belforn on Saturdays.
