The restaurant has been inspired from Salim’s childhood memories of his mother’s kitchen in Lebanon. He said, “My mother was a fantastic cook and whenever I think of her, it is impossible not to think of her amazing food that I now wish to share with everybody.”

Not surprisingly Ya Baladi represents a journey back into the heart and soul of Lebanon and its cuisine. The name of the restaurant itself is derived from a famous song, ‘Helwa Ya Baladi’, which means ‘Beautiful, is My Country’. The warm and simple décor depicts the ambience of a traditional Lebanese café with special touches such as the antique chairs that have been imported from a famous café in Beirut.
