Comfortable, self-catered accommodation 60km south of Budapest
(TRAVPR.COM)HUNGARY - July 17th, 2012 - Visitors who wish to experience rural life in Hungary now have the option of staying in a traditional cottage. Benedek Tanya is a fully modernised, two bedroom property in private gardens, an hour’s drive south of Budapest.
Situated just outside the quiet hamlet of Fülöpháza, this traditional farmer’s dwelling offers self-catering accommodation which is ideal for small groups and families who appreciate a country setting. The property overlooks fields that stretch into the open spaces of Kiskunság National Park that provide a wild backdrop for excellent horse trekking. The cottage, known locally as a tanya*, was built in the 1930s using traditional methods: thick cob walls, whitewashed, heavy timbers and a thatched roof ensure the building is solid and well insulated. It has been recently modernised, using local materials where possible, to create a clean and simple interior. Above average size rooms simply furnished in traditional style, make the house a perfect place to relax.
Benedek Tanya’s central location means it is an ideal base to explore the Puszta including the sturdy provincial capital of Kecskemét and the beautiful university town of Szeged. Budapest is easily reachable for a day trip both by car and train. Within an hour’s drive there are four wonderful thermal bath and spa complexes and Bugac Pustza, the most famous place to see a traditional horse show.
More details can be found at www.benedek-tanya.com Notes Benedek Tanya is available to rent for a minimum of 3 nights between 1 March & 1 November. *The word Tanya literally means smallholding but also describes a type of building unique to the rural areas of central and southern Hungary.
