Two Contemporary Art Walks Explore Pulsing Heart of London and Istanbul

Istanbul, June 18, 2012 – Context, organizer of critically acclaimed walking tours, expands its art program in Istanbul and London, with two new contemporary art tours designed and led by art historians, gallery managers and art critics.
The newly-launched Glamour and Grunge in Istanbul, is a three-hour walk of the Tophane district, that explores the rapid rise of contemporary art in Istanbul. Visiting new galleries and unconvential art spaces and installations, the tour traces the development of the contemporary art market in Istanbul from the city’s first art biennial in 1987 to the current transformation of edgy neighborhoods like Tophane.
In London, the Contemporary Artists' Studios tour is a fully customized experience that gives exclusive access to an ever-evolving. curated selection of artists’ studios. The tour, led by one of Context’s art historians and curators, gives visitors a chance to see how cutting-edge contemporary artists produce their work, view their latest output, and meet today's artists in their most intimate surroundings.
“Studying art history at the Courtauld Institute I was captivated by the insights of those who met the artists of yesterday: Picasso's dealer, Le Corbusier's patrons, Duchamps friends,” recounts Will Lunn, art historian and curator. “I wanted to meet the artists of tomorrow rather than read about them after their deaths. With this walk, visitors to London will have this opportunity."
Glamour and Grunge lasts three hours and is available Tuesday to Saturday. Group walks cost TYL 125 per person. Private tours cost TYL 550. Contemporary Artists' Studios of London lasts three hours and is available Monday to Saturday only as a Private tour. Private tours cost GBP 350.
