Artistic Director Gil Rose makes Monadnock Music conducting debut
(TRAVPR.COM) USA - June 19th, 2012 - Peterborough, N.H.- Monadnock Music opens its 47th season with the Monadnock Sinfonietta under the baton of artistic director Gil Rose making his Monadnock Music debut . They will perform music commissioned by Martha Graham on Friday, July 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Peterborough Town House.
The program will consist mostly of works commissioned by American dance pioneer Martha Graham including Diversion of Angels by Norman Dello Joio, Hérodiade by Paul Hindemith and Appalachian Spring (complete original ballet) by Aaron Copland. Also on the program will be Chamber Concerto Number One “Yueh Fei” by MacDowell Colony fellow Huang Ruo.
Tickets bought prior to July 5 are $8 for students 18 and under, $20 for general seating and $25 for reserved seating (first four rows), while tickets bought on or after July 5 are $10 for students 18 and under, $25 for general seating and $30 for reserved seating (first four rows).
Also, On Sunday July 8 at 3PM Monadnock Music will launch the season’s free Village Concert series at the Community Church of Harrisville, NH with the Monadnock Chamber Players performing works by Virgil Thomson, Reza Vali, Max Reger and MacDowell fellow Dan Welcher.
Founded in 1966 by James Bolle, Monadnock Music enriches lives and deepens a sense of community by means of diverse classical programming throughout the Monadnock region of New Hampshire. Among the many distinguished artists whose work Monadnock Music has presented or commissioned are Elliott Carter, John Adams, Virgil Thomson, Aaron Copland, Peter Sellars, James Maddalena, and Russell Sherman. In addition to its Peterborough Town House Series, Monadnock Music also presents a series of Village Concerts bringing distinguished artists to historic meeting houses throughout the region, free of charge.
