Easter is rapidly catching up with the summer as the most popular time for families to get away on holiday, says Haven. The holiday company says it has seen a 51% increase in Easter holidays over the last five years, with autumn following closely behind at 47%.

The holiday company says it has seen a 51% increase in Easter holidays over the last five years, with autumn following closely behind at 47%.

A Haven spokesperson said: "Increasingly, families are opting for short breaks, often at the last minute and they are taking more breaks throughout the year.

"The rise in Easter holidays is absolutely cracking and we believe this is a reflection of the significant improvement in standards at our holiday parks in recent years."

Over the winter Haven has invested £40 million in improvements to the company's 35 caravan and camping parks in the UK, including just under £12 million in upgrading accommodation.

Haven is Britain's No 1 family holiday company with the holiday parks offering dozens of activities including new Space Bowl water attractions, spas, golf courses and a full programme of day and evening entertainment.

Haven added: "We have grown by 23% over the last five years, much of it down the big rise in Easter and Autumn holidays. Easter in particular is looking very encouraging for this year, especially after the cold winter - people are looking forward to the chance to get away and enjoy a break.

Short breaks are especially good value for money too which is a real bonus in today's economic climate. We are still offering four night breaks during the Easter holidays for less than £180 for a family of four.'
