(TRAVPR.COM) NRW - February 15th, 2012 - Nikos, a Cologne-based Australian is launching inflightfeed.com later this winter. A website dedicated to evaluating buy-on-board food & beverage menus of airlines around the world. In order to raise awareness of the new website, Nikos will embark on a 27,000 kilometer journey. He will fly with 23 airlines throughout Europe to sample, test, review and collect data on the food options available to passengers.

The founder of inflightfeed.com identified the need for a decent meal on an aircraft, especially with buy on board options available. This can prove a challenging task for passengers with specific dietary requirements (due to lifestyle, health or religious reasons). Inflight feed will evaluate and share insights on buy on board menus for over 60 airlines worldwide. Through a template, the public will also be able to submit reviews and experiences with buy on board, and upgraded dining options for economy class passengers.

Background:

The inspiration for this buy on board dedicated website came about when at one point in his career, the only available hot meal option for passengers was a 2 minute noodle soup (offered during flights up to 4 hours long). Back then, passengers complained about meal options available to them but they went unheard. That signified a gap in the industry that Inflight feed is trying to address, including passenger perspectives of buy on board offerings.

Materialization:

To make the project happen, Nikos is seeking donations through an online project in-conjunction with Indie GOGO (www.indiegogo.com/inflightmeals), which has been helping people create ideas and fund projects since 2008. So far over USD$600 has been raised with donations coming from DineUp/Delta airlines new a la carte dining options, branding.aero a New York based brand experience management agency, Pax International news and information relating to the passenger experience, Oloves the healthy olive snack, and various travel bloggers and twitter personalities.

Sponsors can choose from a range of rewards that are mentioned on the Indie GOGO page.

Results will be published once all travel has been completed on the website. A detailed scoring system will ensure consistency across the evaluation process, with various sections requiring scoring on quality, taste, presentation, menu options, and special meals.

Flights are to take place in March and April 2012, with a three-day stopover in Hamburg on 27 March to visit the World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo, which is being co-located with the Aircraft Interiors Expo.
