All Things Lanzarote redefines the Travel Information Site
(TRAVPR.COM)UNITED KINGDOM - February 14th, 2012 - All Things Lanzarote, one of the main travel information portals for this highly popular island in the Canaries, has today announced the launch of its new website. The update includes a fresh and updated design, and a renewed focus on core information required by holiday travellers to Lanzarote. This includes one stop access to one of the cheapest car hire providers on the island, a range of over 100 holiday villas, details of hotels in all the main resorts, detailed resort guides, and listings of bars and restaurants.
A unique feature is the ‘smart search’ facility that enables readers to identify suitable restaurants, bars and hotels, according to their available facilities, cuisine, or location. According to Miles Couchman, owner of the site “The problem with many travel information portals can be the sheer volume of information provided across a wide range of categories. This can make navigation of the site a complete nightmare for customers when they are looking for something specific. We aim to circumvent this by providing a simple search form for some of the key information areas.. For example, users will be able to search for Italian restaurants that are family-friendly and close to the beach in Playa Blanca”.
A further change will be in the general editorial content of the main All Things Lanzarote site. This will focus on core areas of information required by holidaymakers – for example, flights, accommodation, resort guides and restaurant listings. The aim is to get away from the blogging nature of many travel information sites that allocate a lot of space and time to daily news items and features that are often of more interest to residents than to holiday travellers.
Miles goes on to say: “When we were considering how to improve the site, we did a lot of research on what holiday travellers to Lanzarote typically search for. We found loads of searches about flights, villas, hotels, car hire and things to do, but we found far less interest in local events, news, or road closures. I’m not saying there is no place for this type of information, just that it is less important to website users, so we decided to give it less prominence and concentrate on other areas.”
By focusing the site around key travel information, and incorporating feature boxes of interest on all the main pages of the site, All Things Lanzarote plans to enhance the visitor experience. Another innovation is a regular e-newsletter which users can subscribe to via the site, and links to new social media pages which may, in time, develop into a more two-way and conversational style with readers.
